About the Cool Concepts Team

Rick and I, Mike, are the owners of Cool Concepts Performance Coatings. We are lifelong friends and we love cars. Currently Rick has a ’37 Chevy pickup and I have a ’70 Pontiac LeMans Sport convertible which are in differing stages of restoration. Combined we’ve owned as many cars as we are old and there’s no signs of us slowing down. The car we’ve owned were old cars, bought for a little more than a handful of dollars in some cases. Buying cars like that assumes they will need some work, therefore parts need to be bought. In our time, we’ve bought a lot of car parts.

Over the years, we’ve developed a keen sense of what’s quality work and what’s junk. We’ve also developed a keen sense of what good customer service is. During the development of our company, we discussed the basic philosophy behind how we should operate. In a nutshell, we will do the best work possible and treat our customers the same way we’d like to be treated. We will use our experience as a guideline on how to work with our customers and vendors.

It was through this mutual hobby that the idea for Cool Concepts Performance Coatings was born. We had some new exhaust parts sitting around that we planned to use on our projects. During a phone conversation, the question was asked, “do you know anyone who does ceramic coating around here?” The quick answer was no. The idea of shipping a pair of heavy cast iron manifolds or my brand new Doug’s headers out of state, plus the cost of coating and shipping them back AND hoping they came back undamaged was depressingly expensive. Out of sheer curiosity, we started searching but found no one in the area who does ceramic coatings. An idea was born.

Research was done, numbers were crunched, a business plan was typed out and banks were talked to. We opened for business on Labor Day weekend, 2006. We ordered a variety of ceramic coatings and dug up some parts of ours to coat. We tested several different companies’ coatings before settling on the product line we offer today. We offer the best performing colors from various manufacturers, not just the one who gives us the best price break. We have new stuff coming out every year and you can be assured that we do not consider our customers guinea pigs. What we sell is what we’d put on our own cars.
